This energetic piece starts off fairly fast and heavy, and then slows down to a head bobbing funkiness part way through. It gives me (good) chills. There’s a lot of stress going on in this world, and what I find is that, for me, just putting on some soothing music doesn’t actually relax me. I find that I first need to sort of synchronize the world with how I’m feeling, to acknowledge my feelings. After that I can calm down a little better. This piece works for me. Maybe it will for you too. If not, perhaps you’ll at least enjoy the rhythms and my lyric-less vocals later in the song (using my new Shure SM7B microphone).
My brother Cory and I started this piece with electric guitar and Moog synthesizer and then we layered on drums and percussion. Later, I added in the vocals and chimes and distilled our raw material down to this evolving ten minute piece with a climax starting at 5m30s. Cory performed the drums and guitar and I did the rest. We don’t think this piece will be for everyone, but we like it very much and hope you do too.
The picture here is taken from one of the many waterfalls I visited at Silver Falls State Park. Lovely place. You should visit if you can. The picture isn’t actually of granite, but of hard rock with powerful water, and fitting for Grambient01.
