My brother, Cory, added his great acoustic drumming to this piece, replacing much (but not all) of the electronic drum loops I originally started with. We tracked two complete takes of drumming and then a third take of mostly cymbal work. I then learned how to use Propellerhead Reason’s comp editor to use different sections of the takes in the mix.
The Moog Mother-32 produces most of the instrumental sounds which are then sent through Reason effects. I really like the bass sound coming out of the Moog, but it was tricky getting it to sound strong and clear without being too muddy. I’m happy with the results and have some ideas for new things to try in the future. Let us know what you think of our Connection!
